Joint Locks are a critical part of Martial Arts Training, there are specific circumstances that make Joint Pressure and Joint Locking very effective and in some cases the only legal alternative for gaining advantage.

Qin Na has subdivisions of skills, Joint Locking is the primary one we will apply skills practice too.

When is the Skill of Joint Locking Needed?

Joint Locking is a means to your objective. Every conflict has an objective, they usually differ, hence the conflict. Usually our objectives are to

  • Avoid unneccessary problems
  • Be a deterrant to a problem
  • Subdue someone, Give them a moment of pause
  • Escape from a problem

If you are a teacher, body guard, military, law enforcement and in some sports, Qin Na is an essential part of your training. My Grandfather was a Police Officer and Sheriff, my Dad a Prison-Guard and Highway Patrolman, yes, they could get you where they wanted you.

"Sifu Smith is a patient and highly skilled instructor who focuses on teaching joint lock combinations in a very effective manner. His emphasis is on conveying techniques in a practical way so they can be used in a real life situation. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn joint lock techniques or Kung Fu. You'll find working with Sifu Smith to be a very rewarding experience!" - Jeff Simonton

NO PREVIOUS MARTIAL ART TRAINING IS REQUIRED.

In Progressive Use of Martial Arts Skill and Force : TKF 51 , I share with you real-life stories of people that could have used the skill and didn't have it. Some who had the joint locking skills and didn't use it. All of which had consequences.

Military and Law Enforcement use various locks to immobilize, subdue and escort someone. Teachers and hospital orderlies have to use joint locks to subdue someone who has become violent or lost emotional control.

What will we cover during this workshop?

During this particular Basics Workshop I will be taking you thru some joint-locking techniques. I will also share some of my 'non-technique' training, which basically encourages an intuitive understanding.

We will cover a variety of locks across various joints, and point out where you will see the same joint manipulation across styles.

The techniques will be put in context, for example

A Situation that you intend to warn them to keep their hands to themselves, from adults to kids.

An adolescent has gotten emotional and needs a moment of pause to calm down.

You need to get this person subdued, now.
